I thought I would share this shot with you today as it has won me picture of the week at www.ephotozine.com which I am extremely chuffed about.
A little about the shot: Donna Grant of Beauty Angels and Matt Holt of MGL Media were putting together a 1940’s Hollywood Glamour styled video at Holdenby House in Northamptonshire and with Wallpaperjaz providing the music.. They set aside a little time for me to take some still images. Ephotozine is a great photographic community with members of all abilities. I’ve been a member there for a few years and it is a great place to get advice and imput into all things photography. Here’s what they had to say about it:
ePHOTOzine member MattyEdwards has been crowned this week’s Photo of the Week (POTW) winner.
The POTW is picked by ePHOTOzine’s founder and Editorial Director, Peter Bargh, once a week and here’s why he thought MattyEdwards’ photo, The Performer, was a worthy winner:
“There is excellent balance of the singer in full focus and pianist filling the secondary space perfectly. The double bass player blends into the background to avoid distraction while a couple of highlight glints act as additional background bokeh. So we know it’s a band, but full emphasis is on the beautiful singer who’s pose looks totally in character with the set. The crop is tight, just clipping her hair (with the superbly exposed backlighting giving an highlight outline) and the lighting / costume / warm colour adds to give it a retro look that could quite easily be a still from a grand movie. You can almost hear the band playing.”
Big thanks to Pete and I will post a few more of the images from the shoot in a couple of days.
